Dance in Video: Volume II(ALEXANDRIA, VA) – Hundreds of new dance performances and instructional films are now available from Alexander Street Press with the launch of the online collection Dance in Video: Volume II. The latest volume expands global coverage, providing unparalleled access to dance footage from Polynesia to Sierra Leone and beyond.

Dance in Video: Volume II accommodates the needs of today’s dance students by pairing recorded performances from world-renowned dance companies with instructional videos from acclaimed teachers. The second volume—growing to 400 hours of video—expands upon the foundation built in Volume I and showcases a new catalogue of dancers and partners from across the globe including:

  • Bavarian State Ballet
  • Berlin State Ballet
  • Cloud Gate Dance Theatre
  • Compañía Nacional de Danza
  • The Joffrey Ballet
  • John Jasperse Company
  • Kirov Ballet
  • Paris Opera Ballet
  • Royal Ballet of Cambodia

Students seeking to fine-tune specific techniques can explore instructional materials from the George Balanchine Foundation covering ballet technique at all levels. The collection also provides interviews and documentaries featuring Trey McIntyre, Margot Fonteyn, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Darcy Bussell, Yvonne Meier, Saburo Teshigawara, and other key performers and choreographers.

“For Volume II, we made it a priority to include the most-requested content with the greatest relevance to dance curricula from sources the world over,” said Liz Dutton, music editor at Alexander Street Press. “Faculty input played an important role in the development of this collection, and we’re pleased to continue to provide dance content that best fits our patrons’ educational needs.”
