Founder of Business Expert Press Joins Alexander Street for New E-Learning Venture

July 17, 2013

(ALEXANDRIA, VA) – Alexander Street Press welcomes David Parker—founder and past-president of Business Expert Press—to his new position as publisher for business products.

David brings with him more than 14 years’ experience in the e-learning and library products space. After founding Business Expert Press (BEP) in 2008, he served as president of BEP and sister publishing company Momentum Press. Prior to this role, he served as editor-in-chief and member of the global business publishing committee at Pearson Education, where he managed a team of editors responsible for more than $80 million in annual sales.

At Alexander Street Press, David will utilize his skills in digital publishing to launch multimedia business resources with e-learning functionality. In his new position, he plans to pair traditional business materials with previously undiscovered content to deliver exceptional digital-era teaching and learning products built to empower faculty and students in new ways.

“I am thrilled to join Alexander Street Press,” said David. “I have long admired the company for its innovative unification of various forms of media to create best-in-class reference and education databases.”

David holds degrees from George Fox University and the University of Arizona, and has completed executive education certificates from the University of Chicago and City University. He serves on the Publisher’s Advisory Board for SIPX and writes a column for Against the Grain that explores the blurring lines in content, services, and responsibilities within libraries and the companies that serve them.

“I'm delighted that David is joining us,” says Stephen Rhind-Tutt, President of Alexander Street Press. “His experience with BEP shows that he knows how to create quality titles. He'll now be combining that with Alexander Street's expertise in media to create entirely new forms of business publications. It's going to be exciting!”

David’s forthcoming work will build upon the rapidly growing business sector at Alexander Street Press, and will join the company’s suite of more than 80 academic online databases, including Global Business and Economics in Video.
