Alexander Street Press and Gibson Library Connections Join Forces
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Gary Gibson, one of the most familiar names in Canadian library services, and Alexander Street Press, publisher of electronic databases in the humanities, have finalized an agreement for Gibson Library Connections to serve as exclusive agent for Alexander Street products in Canada.

Eileen Lawrence, vice president of sales and marketing at Alexander Street says, “We’ve been taking care of our Canadian customers through special pricing and by including Canadian content in our collections. Now, we are excited to serve Canada’s libraries further through the special care that Gary Gibson will give them.”

Gary recently launched Gibson Library Connections, Inc. to provide both the Canadian library and international publishing communities with a range of consulting and representation services. Gary is best known as a former principal and Director of Sales with Micromedia and has also held other management positions in the industry over the past 20 years both in Canada and Australia.

Gary says of the new partnership, “Alexander Street Press has been selling to libraries in the U.S. and abroad and winning awards for their products and their Semantic Indexing. Now it’s time for Canada’s libraries to take a close look at these outstanding resources, especially the collections with Canadian content, such as North American Women's Letters and Diaries and Early Encounters in North America: Peoples, Cultures, and the Environment. I’m pleased to help introduce these titles to our market.”

Alexander Street Press, L.L.C., is an academic publisher of electronic full-text databases in the humanities and social sciences. Founded in June 2000, the company publishes collections in history, literature, women’s studies, sociology, ethnic and diversity studies, popular culture, film studies, the arts, and other areas. Alexander Street databases won the most recent “Best New Product” award from The Charleston Advisor, and it was listed as one of Library Journal’s “Best Reference Resources of 2001.” Alexander Street’s Semantic Indexing allows users to answer questions in ways previously impossible.
